Health insurance refers to a kind of insurance where an insurer pays the medical costs of the insured. Both private and government organizations offer health insurance. In US, only private healthcare systems are popular. The concept of health insurance was proposed by a person called Hugh.
Later, in the 19th century, health insurance was only disability insurance. It covered hardly covered any medical expenses except the emergency care costs for injuries that may cause disability. Other health care costs were paid only by the patients. Only in the middle 20th century, modern health insurance programs replaced traditional disability insurance.
At present, a health insurance program covers the routine check ups, preventive and emergency healthcare costs and some prescription drugs. Health insurance policy is a contract between the insured and insurer. They are legally binded by such contract. There are various private health insurance providers offering insurance plans at best rates.
