Health Insurance Costs on the Rise

In California many individuals have health insurance but with the costs rising many are worried it is going beyond their reach. In a recent survey ninety percent of California voters have health insurance, but only half of these individuals are satisfied with it. A great majority of the individuals surveyed said they expected to see an increase in their cost sometime in the near future.

Just as Schwarzenegger was starting to look into the health care problems in California the survey was conducted between Nov. 17 and Dec. 12. As the health care costs continue to rise in the state it was found that the number of uninsured is growing with an estimated 6.5 million currently uninsured in the state of California. Out of ten individuals at least four said they were worried about losing coverage and eight individuals said they believed affordable coverage should come from the government.

In the entire United States the rising cost of health insurance has left 46 million without health insurance. Every year the number of uninsured continues to rise. Many younger individuals have the option of getting their health insurance through their employer. However, even with employer benefits many individuals have to pay at least five hundred dollars a year.
